That Said

Omar Said was born with no sense of humour.  Therefore, two things were for-ordained: that he would marry someone who also was an immigrant from his own people and she would have a sense of humour.

Omar proudly registered the birth of their first son.  And that was That.

Life was good.  Happily the child had his mother’s disposition, mischievousness and sense of humour. He excelled at school and had a growing circle of multi-ethnic friends.

His community also adored and easily accepted That, many of them having adopted western names themselves.
